About HIFU Facelifting – The Non-Surgical Face and Neck Lift Procedure 2017-10-12T15:09:54+00:00

The origin of HIFU Facelifting

The history of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) dates back to the 1940’s in the development of ultrasound in submarine sonar. However, HIFU was originally pioneered for medical application by Frank and William Fry in the early 1950’s. Even back in those days, it was recognised for it’s potential for causing localised micro-injury to soft tissue within the body. Unfortunately, the necessary computer technology required to make HIFU a potential non-invasive treatment was not available back then.

Over time, HIFU has come a long way indeed. With constant development and advances in technology, it’s been extensively utilised in the medical sector. It’s been used to treat a wide range of medical conditions ranging from prostate cancer to neurogical disorders. Trusted as an alternative medical technology for treating such disorders, HIFU has now also been recognised and developed as an effective technology for use in the cosmetic and aesthetic industry.

Now HIFU is used for helping clients achieve tighter, firmer and more lifted skin. With collagen production slowing down as we age, the skin on our faces and necks noticeably lose their elasticity and begin to sag. HIFU has the power to reverse this process by stimulating the growth and formation of new collagen.

About HIFU Facelifting Diagram

The HIFU Facelift utilises the power of high intensity focused ultrasound to harmlessly penetrate the skin and stimulate the production collagen. Focused sound waves converge to meet at a focal point beneath the skin. This small area heats up for a split second causing micro-injury beneath the skins surface. This kickstarts your body’s wound healing responses.

Using three different HIFU cartridges, we are able to target three different depths at 1.5mm, 3mm and 4.5mm beneath the skins surface. At a 4.5mm depths, the HIFU reaches the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS). The SMAS is actually the same region that is manipulated by cosmetic surgeons when performing a surgical facelift.

The wound healing process encourages the growth and formation of new collagen and elastin beneath the skin. As you may or may not already know, collagen maintains the skin’s firmness, while elastin helps the skin retain its elasticity. As a clinically proven treatment, you can be assured of excellent results with this facial skin tightening procedure.

About HIFU 1.5mm

Upper Dermis – 1.5mm

1.5 mm cartridge delivers shots of highly focused ultrasound energy to heat the superficial layer beneath the skin.

About HIFU 3mm

Lower Dermis Layer – 3mm

3mm cartridge delivers shots of highly focused ultrasound energy to heat the deep dermis beneath the skin.

About HIFU 4.5mm

SMAS Layer – 4.5mm

4.5mm cartridge delivers shots of highly focused ultrasound energy to heat the superficial muscular aponeurotic system.

The rejuvenating effects of HIFU Facelifting should not be compared with the results you get from a surgical facelift. Be very wary of anyone claiming that the results are similar to those achieved after cosmetic surgery. High Intensity Focused Ultrasound cannot lift the skin on the face and neck like cosmetic surgery can. A standard anatomic surgical facelift is much more severe and will incure downtime and recovery.

HIFU Facelifting on the other hand produces more subtle results but as it it non-surgical in nature, there is no downtime whatsoever. If you have a mild amount of skin laxity, this treatment would offer you a non-invasive solution to skin tightening and rejuvenation. Unlike radiofrequency energy or laser treatments, HIFU reaches the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS). The SMAS is actually the same region that is manipulated by cosmetic surgeons when performing a surgical facelift. HIFU Facelifting is currently the best non-invasive technology for mild skin tightening and lifting.
